Human Powered Internet Camp

Last year, I designed a solar powered long range networking setup to let people connect to the internet while at Burning Man. Like most things at Burning Man there is a bit of a trick to it. To encourage communal effort, the system revolves around a bike that needs to be rode continuously to sustain the wifi signal. An arduino with a proximity sensor is used to analyze if the bike is currently being ridden. If the system detects that the bike has stopped for more than 10 seconds, power is restricted to the router inside the bike and the wifi signal goes dead. This challenge helps the hopelessly internet addicted enjoy the festival and get off of Facebook!
